BC UNICS and the Belgian national team center Ismael BAKO (208 cm, 103 kg) signed a new agreement to extend cooperation under the 1+1 scheme.

In the last VTB United League championship, Bako took part in 41 matches with the Kazan club (37 of them were at the start). The average statistics of the Belgian was 7.3 points and 5.8 rebounds (the 2nd in the team) in 24 minutes of playing time. In addition, Ismael is the season leader in blocked shots on average per game (1.8).

In December 2023, in a victorious away match against Uralmash (89:80), bigman UNICS set a season record by making 6 blocked shots in 24 and a half minutes on the floor.

In February of this year, the Belgian national team, for which Ismael Bako stands, defeated the Slovak national team (75:60), and also created a sensation by beating the reigning European champion Spain with a score of 58:53 in the 2nd round of Eurobasket 2025 qualification. In that match, Bako scored 8 points, 5 rebounds, 3 blocked shots, an assist and an interception in 26:41 minutes of playing time, becoming the second in terms of efficiency (12).
