25.06.2024BC UNICS has signed a contract with power forward Andrey LOPATIN (208 cm, 101 kg). The employment contract with the 25-year-old Russian is designed for one season with the possibility of extension for the next one.
The new UNICS player started his career in the MBA system in the 2013/14 season. In the summer of 2014, the forward changed his club registration, moving to CSKA. Over the next eight seasons, Andrey played for the youth and main teams of the current national champion, as part of which he became the Euroleague champion (2019), two-time champion of the VTB United League and the Russian Championship (2019, 2021), silver medalist of the country and the league (2022) and three-time champion of the VTB United Youth League (2016, 2017, 2018).In the 2022/23 season, the graduate of the Moscow basketball school returned to MBA, which in its debut season in the elite division helped to reach the playoffs, as well as win the bronze medals of the Russian Cup.
Lopatin took part in 38 matches in the VTB United League Championship 2023/24, in which his averages were 11.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 27:47 minutes on the floor. The forward was also included in the All-VTB Team of the Round four times and became the main sniper among the Russians participating in the tournament. In 6 matches of the Russian Cup, Andrey demonstrated a statistical lineup of 10.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 26 minutes of playing time.
In November 2020, Lopatin made his debut for the Russian national team in the qualification match of the 2022 European Championship against Estonia.
In addition, the UNICS newcomer is a two–time participant in the VTB United League All-Star Game (2023, 2024). Last year, he also took part in a three-point shooting contest.
