BC UNICS has finally kicked off the 2017 edition of their One Team Program. Pavel Antipov as a true ambassador conducted the first basketball session for the orphans, residing at the Privolzhsky’s region Asylum of Kazan. In the group of 12, aged 9 – 16, there was only one guy, who knew a little how to play basketball, and the rest were fully freshmen. All pupils were very enthusiastic exploring the new game and liked their new skills very much.
Of course, there was no difficult tasks set for the young athletes. They learned the basketball alphabet: how to pass, to dribble, to handle the ball walking, and sometimes could not help trying to shoot via two hands. Pavel Antipov seemed to be very happy with his master’s role too, and he did not help staging a competition. Splitting his class into two teams, he organized it in such a way everyone was supposed to reach the half-court, handling the ball to meet the rules, then make a shot, and then pass it to his or her teammate. The team to be fastest and most accurately shooting gained the win. the one to loose finished the lesson performing a series of 10 push-ups.
To finilize the acitivities, Pavel Antipov made a little summery of the session and asked his pupils to keep to a healthy regime daily, and then set a hometask to be checked during the next lesson on offer.
According to Pavel Antipov, the master-class was a success. He was pleased to see the children, very much enthusiastic and hot ready to learn.
“I did not mean to make the lesson either complicated or boring, and this is why just gave them a number of exercises to warm up and learn the basic skills, - said UNICS Kazan forward. “I like the idea of One Team as it helps ordinary children go in for sport and basketball, which is very pleasing and useful both for their physics and for their will. This is a big honor for me to be a part of it”.
